Not as One Who Has Attained

If there is anyone who lived that deserves to die because of their sins, it would be me.

I cannot think of a single sin category that I have not fallen under at one point or another, and if anyone knew me the way God does, they would be repulsed probably – even now. Though Jesus has been merciful in freeing me from some sins, there are many that hang on despite my tearful pleas for freedom. Yet, I believe in the promises of Jesus Christ, and I expect my imputed righteousness to one day be fulfilled in actually performing that righteousness through His power.

I know how it feels to have mental understanding of a sin and the complete inability to perform that which is good. It’s hard, and often times I think we either lose hope and accept defeat or start justifying our sins in one way or another. I want to offer some encouragement in this.

When I write thinks like, The Pretentious Bride, or How Far?, I want you to know that I’m writing to myself first and foremost. I have been many of these things, and I cringe when I think about all the years I wasted  being a luke-warm, selfish, gossiping, lying, and generally hate-filled person – all the while saying I was a Christian. I get it, more than you might think.

Saying the hard things that go against tradition or call out the corruptions is not easy for me, but it is necessary. These rebukes, warnings, or whatever you want to call them have to go out, but on the other side of this we have something beautiful. We have the promise of redemption.

Sin is serious, but no matter how sinful we are, the mercy and love of Jesus is so much stronger. We should rebuke sin, approve righteousness, and learn to judge the difference while journeying towards a better relationship with Jesus Christ. That, in a nutshell, is what KindlingTruth is all about.

Yes, the Christian systems at large are very lost, and we would all do well to open our eyes to this. Think about it. Christianity is still the most popular religion in the world. Look at the world. Does it reflect Jesus? It is manifest by the hatefulness we see all around that something must be very wrong here. Of course, this is nothing new. Deception among the church goes as far back as Christianity itself, and I believe that all lies and forms of corruption are leading up to the last great deception.

There is a Great Whore and there is Jerusalem, and right now, it can be hard to tell the difference between the two. So much so, that I sometimes get lost in trying to find the right approach in my writings. As of now, neither are matured, and until that line in the sand is drawn we have a chance to come to repentance and enter into the glorious kingdom of God.

It can all get very confusing and overwhelming at times, I know. There are so many lies out there, so much pain we carry, so many people trying to pull you in this direction or that – all claiming to be Spirit-filled minsters of God. My goal is not to grow some huge following, but to equip and encourage you to seek Jesus in order to obtain the things you need from Him to stand strong despite the darkness that engulfs this world, so you can thrive within New Jerusalem rather than die along with the Great Whore. Revival or judgment? Which do you want? I’ll take revival.

I don’t expect some massive Christian revival. It would be great though, wouldn’t it? Wouldn’t it be great if Christians were the examples of Jesus we should be—freeing the captives, healing the brokenhearted, providing for the needy (both physically and in spirit) and loving the world the way Jesus Christ loves us. Wouldn’t it be great if our churches were a place where we could take off our masks, air out our white-washed tombs, and let some Light in without fear of harsh judgment from others? Wouldn’t it be great if we could be one body in union with Jesus as He said?

I don’t know if any of this will happen on a global scale before He returns, but we can each on an individual level seek these things. We can seek a personal revival, and we each can in some small way bring God glory and show this sad world what the love of Jesus is all about.

These are the things that ye shall do: Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates: And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things I hate, saith the Lord.  — Zechariah 8:16-17
