It’s a sad and very unfortunate thing to hear people teach that God doesn’t really care if we continue sinning because we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.
I understand that this idea sounds wacky to most people who read this blog, so this is not directed at any of you, or anyone else in particular. However, we all need to do better about laying hold of the FULL gospel of Jesus Christ that considers what his resurrection means for us in our present lives: “I am come so that you might have life abundant.”
If you come in contact with people who downplay sin or pick on certain sins and say you must “choose” to stop (while ignoring other sins as it’s convenient for them), consider this question: What does faith in Jesus mean?
If we really believe in Jesus, shouldn’t we also believe in what he stands for? Doesn’t this mean we love him? Jesus said, “if a man love me, he will keep my words” (John 14:23). We know that salvation is by grace through faith, so guess what? The great news is that it is GIVEN to us to keep the commandments given by the word of Jesus. That is what the gospel of the kingdom is!
It is being given by grace though faith the ability by the power of Jesus to overcome the slavery of this earthly kingdom and the bonds of sin as we conform to the image of Christ. Just as Jesus was raised from the dead, by him we are raised in newness of life, right? This is not a future event only. Rather, this is what it means to live a Christian life.
Telling people that they will always be sinners, or to go so far as to tell people that God doesn’t really care about your little sins is not only untrue, it flat out denies the sacrifice of Jesus. The same is true for those who are self-righteous and hateful to those who sin differently then they do, because they should “just stop.”
So, God does not care about righteousness. Okay, let’s see what the word, which those who really love Jesus are to keep, has to say about that:
Matt 3:15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness.
Matt 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Matt 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
Matt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matt 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gait; for wide is the gate and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Matt 7:21 Not every one that saith into me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Matt 16-17 No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse. Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.
Matt 10:24-25 The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Be-el-ze-bub, how much more shall they call them of his household?

Romans 6:12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law but under grace. What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.

Romans 8:1-5 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 1John 5 4-5 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
1 John 5: 18-19 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
2 John 9 Whosoever transgreseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, he hath not the Father and the Son.
3 John 11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God, but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.
